The Responses
In February, we shared “The Report” with the industry – an independent analysis of the current issues facing Production Management in the Unscripted genre (including Factual, Entertainment, Children’s, Sports, Live Events and amongst other programming).
The research drew upon the responses of a survey distributed last Autumn, that received submissions from almost 1000 staff and freelancers in the department. The campaign picked up momentum solely from word of mouth and the sharing of the Production is Broken Instagram account, a reflection of the level of unhappiness.
Production is Broken is an unfunded action group, run by a group of Production Management freelancers currently active in the industry.
“The Report” was shared online, by email and via postal delivery upon its release on February 17th, and was subsequently shared with industry decision-makers who users requested we send copies of the findings to.
Further outreach has since followed with Production is Broken contacting broadcasters, production companies, industry organisations, trade publications and media educational institutions – to share the findings, raise awareness of the issues facing the industry and to seek their response.
Following our commitment to transparency with Production Management colleagues, we are sharing those responses here.
